Recipe for Eckert Estate Family Cake

Tasted during Holiday in the Vineyards event

Eckert Estate Family Cake (Bolo Familia)

2 c. water

2 Tab milk

4 cups raisins

Bring to a slight boil then drain.

4 cups flour

2 cups sugar

2 teas. baking powder

2 teas. Baking soda

1 Tab. Nutmeg

1 ½ Tab. Cinnamon

***2 cups Eckert Estate Red Wine - Zinfandel or Petite Sirah work well! 

4 eggs

½ lb butter, melted

1 teas. Lemon rind

1 teas. Vanilla

Beat eggs, with sugar and melted butter.

Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg and cinnamon gradually into sugar mixture.

Add lemon rind, wine and vanilla, stir in raisins and walnuts.
